Growing up in a small town, without a lot of busy distractions, does a lot to feed a youthful imagination. As a child, I was a collector. I would look for beauty in ordinary items that I found around the house and in the backyard. I never felt limited by a lack of ‘real’ art supplies, rather, started to develop an appreciation for salvaging things and giving them a new life. That’s still my philosophy today; most of my creations have a salvage attitude, I stick to a recycling theme when planning Crafty Chicks Nights and encourage everyone to find new uses for old things.
”In everyone’s life, at some time, our inner fire goes out. It is then burst into flames by an encounter with another human being. We should all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit.”
- Albert Schweitzer
